Rebirth -New Panel!

spring is all about rebirth-here is the rebirth of our pear tree with blue sky (wishful thinking!).

In Bloom and Spirit

My next two panels in this Spring series are In Bloom and Spirit- I really like how these are looking like old faded out wallpaper... They are blockprints and stencils on the back of a countertop sample. These are the flowers that inspired it... I know, I know, not at all the same colors. I took the little bell shape of the flower and made it into the design.


Spirit is a group of ferns and dragonflys, I like how they both unfurl- I don't have a photo, but if you've ever seen a dragonfly curl up it's tail you know what I mean!

My art theme for this month is Spring- as it seems that spring has fiiiinaaly arrived!

So what I am doing is going out every morning and taking some pictures, from those pictures I will create some art pieces. Right now I'm combining blockprinting with a bit of stencil and some all-over painting with a brayer. The art has the look of old wallpaper. I am using old laminate countertop samples (the backs) to print on, they already have a convenient hanging hole, and it's a nice way to reuse them. I chose to do a "seed" theme for this one, as it corresponds with this weeks illustration friday theme! (which I will attempt to submit my picture to).
